Every treatment begins with a medical consultation. Results vary between individuals.
What is Profhilo?
Profhilo is made from a high concentration of pure hyaluronic acid. Unlike a dermal filler, it is not designed to add volume or sculpt. Instead, it is injected at a small number of set points on each side of the face, where it spreads gently through the tissue.
Once in place, it is designed to hydrate the skin from within and to stimulate the skin's own production of collagen and elastin. People often describe it as a treatment for skin quality — helping skin look more supple, smoother and more radiant over time.
Profhilo is commonly given as an initial course of two sessions around four weeks apart, with maintenance treatments afterwards. Your practitioner may recommend a different plan depending on your skin.
Who it's for
Profhilo may suit adults who are noticing dehydrated, dull or crepey skin, early loss of firmness or fine lines, and who want a refreshed look without altering their features. It can be used on the face as well as the neck, décolletage and hands.
It is not usually offered during pregnancy or breastfeeding, where there is active skin infection in the area, or with certain medical histories. If your main concern is volume loss or hollowing, another treatment may be more appropriate — this is something we talk through at consultation.
What to expect on the day
You begin with a medical consultation to discuss your skin, your medical history and what you would like to achieve. We explain how Profhilo works, the likely number of sessions and any risks before you decide.
The skin is cleansed and the injection points marked. Profhilo is placed using a fine needle at a small number of points on each side of the face. The treatment is quick, and you may feel a brief sting at each injection point.
Small raised bumps appear where the product has been placed; these are expected and usually settle within hours as the gel spreads. The full appointment takes around 45 minutes.
Downtime and aftercare
Most people return to normal activities straight away, although the injection points can remain slightly raised or red for several hours and occasional small bruises may appear. Planning treatment a few days before any important event is sensible.
For the first 24 hours avoid make-up, alcohol, intense exercise, saunas and facial massage. Keep up your usual gentle skincare and daily sun protection. Changes in skin quality, where they occur, tend to develop gradually over the weeks after your second session.

No. Profhilo is hyaluronic acid but it is not designed to add volume or reshape. It spreads through the skin to support hydration and skin quality.
How many sessions do I need?
An initial course of two sessions around four weeks apart is common, sometimes with a third. Your practitioner will recommend a plan for your skin.
How long do results last?
Any improvement is gradual and varies between individuals. Many people choose maintenance sessions every several months.
Will people be able to tell?
Profhilo is focused on skin quality rather than changing your features, so the aim is a refreshed look rather than an obvious change.
